Archery

We are transitioning into our fall and winter schedule. Practices will be held on Saturdays at  Superior Archery (1680 Lockwood Road, Billings, MT.) Superior Archery charges $7.  We do ask if you bring children, you provide direct supervision. Dates and times may change so it is best to check our Shire of Bronzehelm Facebook page to keep up with the latest news.

The following applies to our summer practices out at Neverdone Farm:
Archery practices generally last 2 - 3 hours and consist of inspection of bow and arrows by the Archery Marshal(s), a practice session, followed by Royal Rounds. (For information on Royal Rounds, the SCA Archery ranking system, please visit the Archery Website
and click on "Kingdom of Artemisia").

Non-SCA members are welcome to practice Archery, however, a waiver will need to be signed before participating.  Children between the ages of 7 - 14 need to have an adult present and also a minor waiver signed.  Children under the age of 7 must be directly supervised at all times by a parent and must be kept away from the Archery firing line.

The Shire does have a few loaner bows along with some arrows.  Since these are SCA Archery Practices, we do our best attempt to use bows and arrows which resemble those used during the Middle Ages.  Long bows, Recurves, Mongolian bows, and other period style bows are recommended. We allow fiberglass bows, but do not allow Compound bows of any type.  Both wood and carbon arrows can be used for practice, but only wood arrows are allowed for participating in Royal Rounds or SCA sanctioned Archery tournaments.

Questions can be directed to the Shire Archery Marshal: Sofia Ivarsdottir (Diedre "Deedee" Arzy) at sophiaivarsdottir (at) yahoo (dot) com.
